Prep. I and II Choirs from Mrs. Karen Duval—
Starting this week, I will be sending home words to songs that the children
will be learning for our Christmas concert. Please go over these words with
your child. I try to make sure that they learn the meaning of unfamiliar words;
if you could reinforce this, I would appreciate it. In approximately two weeks
I will send home a practice CD with the music. If you could have the children
listen and begin to sing along with the CD at least once a day, they will learn
the songs much more quickly. Also, most of the children will have at least one
line of dialogue to memorize. This will be sent home in the next few weeks.
The date for the program has not been set yet as I am still seeking a venue; but
I am leaning toward the last week of choir this semester, which would be
December 11th, 12th, or 13th. Any suggestions
for venues will be welcomed. Also, are any of you gifted and/or interested in
helping with costumes?
I am looking forward to seeing you at the parent look-in. Come see what your child has been learning so far this year. I want to thank you for your cooperation with having a Prep. One and Two Choir this year. It is much more manageable and the education is far more age appropriate.
Thanks. Mrs. D

Parent
Look-in Thursday, October 2nd
All parents are invited to join their student(s) in the choir room to see how
the directors put it all together. Because we want to foster the optimum
teaching environment for your children, we ask that you respectfully observe the
following during the look-in:
1. Please make other arrangements for children under age 5 during the look-in
time.
2. Please limit talking during the teaching time.
3. Rather than just sitting and observing the class, you are most welcome to
join us and participate!
We look forward to having you visit the choir!

We will be selling God’s Creation calendars and notecards again this fall. Stay tuned for more information.

The LAST DAY to turn in BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION this FALL is October 23rd.
I will have a collection box set up in the Breakaway room each week from 2:00-3:30 and hopefully in an
easy-to-spot place at the alternate rehearsal location. (It is NOT for Betty Crocker coupons.)
I need someone to be willing to put out a collection box for the 1:00 choir each week as well
and then give it to me to prepare for mailing in October.
This is easy money for the choir. In the last two years, we have received almost $250 with what is often thrown away as trash!
Ask friends and family to help you too. You might even consider putting a collection box at your church or job.
We will have another turn-in date in the spring.
Please contact me at lighthouseoflearning@cox.net or 321-2062
if
you would be willing to help with the collection box starting at 1:00.
Thanks,
Tina Slaven
